Re: ITW Buildex Silver Climaseal Corrosion Resistant Coating

Dear Buildex Customer,

This is to describe the process used to apply this coating and to provide details about the coating composition.

The process starts with a thorough substrate cleaning and pretreatment, after which a mechanical zinc plating undercoat is applied. Mechanical plating utilizes kinetic energy to deposit zinc onto the fastener. Mechanical zinc plating provides a durable metal coating with excellent adhesion. Even if the mechanical zinc plating is scratched, there is still galvanic protection for the base metal. Next, Climaseal is applied to seal the fastener and further enhance corrosion resistance. Climaseal is a thermosetting polyester coating applied to the fastener in multiple coats using dip-spin technology.

Climaseal-coated fasteners are ideal for exterior and interior applications where protection against moisture and a corrosive environment is needed.
